Senior System Administrator  Ref: 080100-043

The Senior System Administrator possesses superior technical ability in systems administration to research, design, implement and support complex computational and data storage solutions.  Ensures the smooth operation of systems in order to provide maximum performance and availability for their users.  Relies on his/her hands-on experience as a systems administrator to analyze requirements and high level designs, conduct trade studies, and develop detailed designs to satisfy functional, performance, security and future growth requirements.  Authors technical documentation such as test reports, user guidelines and troubleshooting manuals.  Installs and administers system computers and related components to maintain availability of services and applications to user community.  Oversees the physical security, integrity and safety of the computer systems.

Responsibilities:

·   Installation and configuration of Solaris 8 and 10 operating systems, including package and patch updates;

·   Solaris Jumpstart and Live Upgrade administration;

·   Jumpstart a wide range of Sun Microsystems hardware platforms.  This includes booting to Solaris 8 and 10, and also booting to local SCSI and external SAN;

·   Conduct Live Upgrades from the Current Boot Environment (CBE) to the Alternate Boot environment (ABE);

·   Identify and resolve Jumpstart and Live Upgrade failures;

·   Design, implement, and support custom Jumpstart modules in accordance with program’s framework; and

·   Install and support Jumpstart releases within test and operational environments;

·   Developing, documenting, and executing system test and maintenance plans;

·   Administration and control of user accounts, file systems, and network configuration;

·   Solid shell scripting skills; and

·   Ability to create and maintain detailed configuration management records and documentation.

Qualifications:

This full time position requires:

·         A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university which provides substantial knowledge of the information sciences;

  • Eight (8) years of intensive and progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency levels related to task.  Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree;
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Word; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Senior Network Administrator  Ref: 080100-042

As above, ASEG Inc. additionally seeks a Senior Network Administrator possessing superior technical competence in network engineering to research, design, implement and support complex computer communication networks within an organization or between organizations.  Ensures the smooth operation of networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for their users.  Relies on his/her hands-on experience as a network engineer to analyze requirements and high level designs, conduct trade studies, and develop detailed designs addressing layer 2 and layer 3 networks, quality of service, server load balancing, virtualization and security.  Authors technical documentation such as network designs, test reports, user guidelines and troubleshooting manuals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Hands-on and technical assignments may include:
    • installing, supporting and maintaining new network hardware;
    • allocating network resources;
    • monitoring network usage;
    • ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient use of servers;
    • ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry and program standards;
    • analyzing and resolving faults, whether it is a major system crash or a forgotten IP address;
  2. Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
  3. Planning for future growth in networks; and
  4. Function as part of or lead a network implementation team.

Qualifications:

This full time position requires:

·         A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience;

·         Current CCNA;

·         Ten (10) years’ experience spanning initial analysis to deployment and sustainment;

·         Extensive experience with Cisco networking technologies including routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), VPN, VLANs, access lists, and firewalls; 

·         Ability to work under deadline pressure as part of a team or autonomously; and

Software Engineer  Ref: 080105-040

ASEG Inc. seeks a Software Engineer possessing superior technical competence for service oriented architecture-based software development assignments. Candidate must have experience in all phases of the engineering life cycle.

The Software Engineer will exhibit competence in technical aspects of systems development and be responsible for developing processes, utilizing state-of-the-art tool suites and analytical techniques to design, implement, troubleshoot and document high performance solutions.  The candidate will also be expected to participate in requirements gathering, system design and technical specification of such systems.  Knowledge of Java, Net-Centric Services, UML, Use Case Analysis and DoDAF is a must.  Understanding NCES and OGC Specifications desired.  The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment with both internal resources and subcontractors in a coordinated effort.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implementation and integration of interfaces and server-side software components based on Open Geospatial Consortium system standards;
  2. Design and development of search capabilities based on semantic search criteria;
  3. Design and develop software development kits to simplify application development;
  4. Conduct Use Case Analysis efforts;
  5. Use systems architecture to create service definitions and data models;

Qualifications:

This full time position requires:

·         A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent;

·         Five (5) years’ minimum of intensive and progressive hands-on experience spanning initial systems analysis to deployment and support;

·         Demonstrable hands-on software development experience in Java;

·         Demonstrable hands-on experience with one or more of JBoss, Apache/Tomcat or WebLogic application servers;

·         Develop technical documentation detailing the project design parameters;

·         Experience with Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel and Word;

Systems Software Engineer  Ref: 070100-031

ASEG Inc. seeks a Systems Software Engineer with experience in providing high performance, high availability shared storage solutions.  Candidate must exhibit technical competence for infrastructure, software development, storage area networks (SAN) and secure systems operations and management assignments.  The Systems Software Engineer must have experience in all phases of the engineering life cycle.

The Systems Software Engineer shall demonstrate competence in technical aspects of systems development and be responsible for developing processes, utilizing state-of-the art tool suites and analytical techniques to design, implement, troubleshoot and document high performance storage and computational solutions.  The candidate will also be expected to participate in requirements gathering, system design and technical specification of such systems.  Knowledge of HP OpenView, Perl, Solaris, Storage Area Networking standards and technologies is a must.  The position also requires the ability to work in a team environment with both internal resources and subcontractors in a coordinated effort.

Responsibilities:

This full time position requires:

1.   Storage Engineering

  • Design and implement high performance SAN solutions to include building storage and LUNS, zoning switches, and making file systems;
  • Document SAN topology using Visio;
  • Analyze and resolve failures and performance problems; and
  • Develop, execute and document formal performance and functional tests.

2.   Solaris Jumpstart and Live Upgrade Administration

·         Jumpstart a wide range of Sun Microsystems hardware platforms.  This includes booting to Solaris 8 and 10, and also booting to local SCSI and external SAN;

·                      Conduct Live Upgrades from the Current Boot Environment (CBE) to the Alternate Boot Environment (ABE);

·                      Identify and resolve Jumpstart and Live Upgrade failures;

·         Design, implement and support custom Jumpstart modules in accordance with program’s framework; and

·                      Install and support Jumpstart releases within test and operational environments.

3.  Provide health and monitoring solutions in a 24x7 uptime operational environment.

·         Identify monitoring requirements.  Monitoring requirements are satisfied using HP OpenView (HPOV) and Sun Management Center (SunMC);

·         Create a test environment to the same specifications as the operational environment;

·         Satisfy all monitoring requirements within a test environment, and furnish a test report; and                                                                                                                    

·         Deliver the monitoring solutions within the operational environment.

4. Design, implement and support high availability and fault tolerant solutions.

·         Identify single points of failure within the SANs.  This includes both hardware and software.  Solutions include, but not limited to, RAID, file system striping, VCS clustering, HBA fail over and hardware/software redundancy.

Qualifications:

This full time position requires:

  • Six years’, hands-on experience spanning initial analysis to deployment and support;
  • Experience with large scale HPTC programs; and

·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Senior SAN Specialist  Ref: 050100-004

ASEG Inc. seeks a Senior SAN Specialist with experience in providing high performance, high availability shared storage solutions. Candidate must have a solid understanding of standards, protocols and hands-on experience with a variety of equipment including: IBM, Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, Cisco, QLogic and Brocade. Experience with SAM-QFS required and one or more of Veritas Cluster Server and Sun Cluster desired.

Responsibilities: design, implement, optimize and support SANs; work with developers, test engineers and O&M staff to diagnose and resolve functional and performance problems; install and configure SAN software; develop test plans and procedures; and produce architecture and design drawings, such as ‘wiring diagrams’.
